Jury Finds Muncie Guilty of Triple Murder in 2022 – Indianapolis News | Indiana weather | Indiana Traffic

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A jury on Wednesday found a 30-year-old Muncie man guilty of killing three members of the same family in July 2022, a Delaware County prosecutor said.

Devin X. Myers was found guilty of killing Malcolm Perdue, 69, Kyndra Skinner, 51, and their grandson Kyler Music, 19. At the time of his arrest, Myers was listed as being from Milford.

Another Muncie man, Daniel L. Jones, faces a jury trial in the triple murder case. He has been charged with two murders.

Officers with the Muncie Police Department received a report of a break-in, robbery and shooting at a residence on South Liberty Street around 4:50 a.m. on July 13, 2022. The bodies of Perdue and Skinner were found with gunshot wounds in the rear of the home, police said.

Jones and Myers left the home in a stolen dark-colored GMC, police said. Court documents say Myers told Jones he shot his friend in the face, wrapped the body in plastic and then disposed of the body with the help of his girlfriend.

Musick’s body was found July 14, 2022, near the Muncie Reservoir. Myers and Jones were arrested the same day.

In addition to the three murder convictions, the jury found Myers guilty of armed robbery; criminal conviction; conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury; and obstruction of justice.

Prosecutor Eric M. Hoffman said in a press release Wednesday: “After the jury returned its verdicts, the defendant admitted that he used a firearm during the commission of the murder, subjecting Myers to a sentencing enhancement for the use of a firearm.” . Myers also admitted to being a habitual offender, having at least two prior felony convictions for battery with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.

As a result, Myers could face a sentence enhancement for being a habitual offender and using a firearm to commit crimes.

In a press release, the prosecutor said: “Make no mistake: Devin Myers is a very dangerous predator. He brutally executed three people from the same family.”

Hoffman said he hopes Myers goes to prison for life when he is sentenced on Dec. 20.

Jones’ trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 18 in Delaware District Court 5, where Myers was convicted.
