This transformation of Kannauj Police serves as an example for other districts in UP to emulate, promising faster, more transparent and effective policing to the public.

Kannauj district police aims to go completely paperless by December 2024, a landmark step under the Digital India mission, making it the first district in Uttar Pradesh to achieve such a feat.

According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Press Office on Saturday, all police stations in Kannauj will migrate to the e-office system, ending dependence on paper-based processes and ushering in a new era of efficiency and transparency.

Kannauj Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Anand said the shift to digital platforms is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to modernize the state police force. “Kannauj Police aims to achieve 100% digitization by the end of 2024, eliminating the need for cumbersome files and allowing all administrative tasks to be carried out digitally,” he said.

During the grand opening at the police station, laptops were distributed to station commanders, court officials and officers named on official documents to help with the transition. The SP said that through training at the district training center, police officers are acquiring technical skills to operate the e-office system developed by the National Informatics Center (NCI) based on the Central Secretariat Manual.

Digital infrastructure in Kannauj has been strengthened to support the transition. “The e-office system will digitize files and data management, speeding up redressal of complaints, streamlining reporting and ensuring timely justice,” he added.

S.P. Anand said the new digital platform enhances monitoring capabilities, reduces corruption risks and facilitates more effective decision-making. “The public will greatly benefit from faster complaints resolution and more transparent processes, leading to increased confidence in the policing system,” he added.
