Regardless of what fans may say to the contrary, this is the case. Always felt that Paul Heyman would ultimately betray Roman Reigns.

This is a betrayal that could have happened at Survivor Series, or at least been hinted at there.

The reasoning is simple: Heyman is exactly like that. He’s a snake. A Hall of Fame Snake and arguably the sport’s all-time great on the mic, but a Snake who has his own interests at the forefront.

You can just look at history. Heyman was the guy who supported Brock Lesnar years ago, only to betray him at the right moment through Big Show. He also betrayed CM Punk. He had his reasons, but it can be boiled down to the fact that he moved on to the next important thing whenever possible.

Reigns is next on the list.

Heyman will have a pretty good excuse this time too. All he has to do is claim that his tribal chief never came back to save him from the likes of Solo Sikoa and his offshoot bloodline who constantly bullied him after WrestleMania.

WWE first floated the idea when Reigns tried to call Heyman, but the number no longer worked. This is after he’s already developed relationships with the likes of Jey Uso and even Sami Zayn, so why not Heyman next, right?

But then Heyman made his big comeback, bringing CM Punk with him to save the day as the fifth and final member of Reigns’ team against Sikoa’s Bloodline at Survivor Series.

Along with this came a not-so-subtle hint of color to Heyman’s allegiance, as he broke with tradition and wore a red dress that just so happened to be similar to what Sikoa wears:

Turning on Punk doesn’t help. While it would be easy to think that Heyman would eventually move on to the next big thing like Bron Breaker, the World’s Best returning to WWE after all these years is a pretty funny horse for Heyman to back as well.

In Punk, Heyman has an old friend who can talk on the mic to anyone and has proven that he can beat literally anyone on the planet in the ring itself. If you had to guess, the soft deal could be that Heyman betrays Reigns and ruins his plans, and Punk does it because of his long history with the Tribal Chief. Perhaps Punk agreed because Heyman could also help him fight for the main title. Of course, his involvement in helping Reigns will piss off a guy named Seth Rollins as a nice bonus.

If that’s the case, Solo could be targeted by Heyman rather than someone like Breaker. Sure, they blasted it through the table and stuff like that, but power is power. He’ll see the faction that Sikoa has assembled, and that faction will also see what Heyman can do for them as a manager.

This certainly makes sense from a booking perspective as well. Reigns doesn’t need anyone to hold the mic for him, especially if he remains the baby-faced teenager the fans adore. But Sikoa needs all the help she can get with the mic, and some deceptions are winning, too.

This would expand Reigns’ involvement in the Sikoa’s Bloodline feud well beyond Survivor Series, helping to keep him away from the main title scenes. Ultimately, the end goal could be to drag out the action just long enough to spark a feud with Rock and set up a big WrestleMania match next year.

At this point, it may just be hinted at rather than stated explicitly. It’s possible that Heyman is keeping things vague before making a complete turnaround later. But this can be seen to logically lead to a mini-feud, with Punk facing off against Reigns several times before the former goes to Rollins and the latter to The Rock at Mania.

What’s nice about this is that there’s been so much care and attention given to the story and character motivations over the years that almost anything would make sense. And in Heyman’s case, it’s a pattern of behavior that spans decades.

If Heyman does turn on Reigns, expect that or the first big seeds of betrayal to occur at Survivor Series. Not only does it make sense and the timing seems right, it’s just another way for Reigns to get the crown in his corner and another hurdle for him to overcome on the road to redemption.
