I have two ovens at home that do a great job of keeping my wife and I nice and toasty. However, the basement where I work out is not as warm as the rest of the house. I’ve always been hesitant to use a heater in the basement because the room isn’t finished yet, it can get pretty messy, and there isn’t always room on the floor for a heater among all the gym equipment.

So, when Dreo sent me their wall heater to test, I was excited to give it a try.

  • 120 degree vertical oscillation for even heat distribution.
  • 89% of air heating volume

  • Automatically adjusts the LED panel lighting so that the heater does not disturb your sleep.
  • Easy installation using the included template.
  • Remote control from anywhere in the room
  • Removable filter
  • Convenient cable recess
  • Sound level — 41 dB

  • 3 speeds
  • Dimensions – 4.52″ L x 20.15″ W x 13.18″ H.

My experience

First of all, I wasn’t bothered by the smart aspect of the Dreo heater. The reason is that we ditched our Alexa devices in favor of Google Home speakers. We recently changed network providers and I couldn’t connect Alexa to the new network no matter how hard I tried. I’ve always found Alexa devices to have connectivity issues, and deploying the Google Home speakers was completely painless.

That being said, after using the heater for a few weeks, I found that I didn’t miss out on the smart features as the heater does its job perfectly without the addition of Alexa or a mobile app.

It’s cold in our basement this time of year. Usually when I work out I have to dress as if I’m working out outside. Thanks to Dreo, that’s not the case. I turned the heater on to maximum power and enjoyed the warmth.

Now I tried to do the same with other heaters, of which I have two – a radiator and a traditional heater. None of my other heaters could support their weight in the basement. On the other hand, the Dreo felt nice and cozy while I worked up a sweat. This feature alone convinced me to choose the heater.

A well-designed remote control is also a plus. When it got too hot, I could turn down the heat or turn off the unit without missing the rower or treadmill.

One thing you should know is that our basement is 900 square feet, so the heater will not heat the entire area. However, I positioned the heater so that it was centered on my machine, and that part of the basement was significantly warmer than the other part of the room. If you were to use the Dreo in your bedroom, living room, TV room, or any other place that isn’t a huge unfinished space, I’m confident this heater will keep you perfectly comfortable all winter long.

Nit to choose from

The only problem I had with the Dreo heater was that the swinging fin could only be paused in three specific places. When you stop oscillating, the fin is either at the very top, the very center, or the very bottom. This is fine if you don’t need it to pump heat to a specific plane in its vertical path. But if you want to elaborate, you’re out of luck.

Apart from this small problem, I found Smart wall heater Dreo be the best heater I have ever used. And with a selling price of $110, it’s worth every penny if you hate the cold.

If you need to warm up a room and are tired of traditional heaters that are annoying and don’t work, this little heater is an absolute winner. Not only will it keep you warm, but it also gives you complete control over how it works.
