Christina Aguilera Reveals What Her Kids Borrowed From Her Closet (Exclusive)

Christina Aguilera’s closet isn’t off-limits at home.

The “Genie in a Bottle” singer and mom of two exclusively told PEOPLE that her teenage son Max, 16, and teenage daughter Summer, 10, are allowed to borrow her pieces whenever they want.

“It’s fun to see them wear things differently than I do and reinterpret my fashion choices and make them their own,” the Grammy winner, 43, tells PEOPLE.

Aguilera’s kids are definitely following her cool fashion choices. On Nov. 19, she gave fans a glimpse into her kids’ personal style by posting a family photo to Instagram, showing Max in a grungy graphic tee, camo cargo pants, hat and sunglasses, and Summer in a casual black outfit. outfit with high-top sneakers.

The pop star says Max usually gravitates toward chain accessories and Chrome Hearts pieces. On the other hand, Summer loves wearing shoes, but Aguilera admits she thinks her mini-me will “definitely outgrow” her, so she’s not sure how long that will last.

“They both have good personal style and know exactly who they are. I have always raised them to express their uniqueness,” she adds.

Great fashion advice and coveted clothing items aren’t the only things Aguilera passes on to her kids.

“For me, the definition of beauty is being comfortable in your own skin, and that’s a message I always try to instill in my kids,” she tells PEOPLE. “No one else can define what beauty means to you. Creative expression brings me joy, and that comes from different styles and looks,” she says.

She reminds herself of this not only on stage, but also tries to live authentically in everyday life.

Aguilera was recently joined by Summer at the opening of H&M’s Times Square flagship store in New York City.

Looking festive and festive, the singer did the honors of cutting the ribbon, wearing gold shorts from the brand’s holiday collection. Her daughter was wearing a baggy sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.
