Cambridge Park murders: Man charged over alleged brutal murders of Western Sydney burger shop owners

A man has been charged following the alleged gruesome murders of burger shop owners whose bodies were discovered in a shocking early morning discovery at a Western Sydney takeaway.

NSW Police were called to Buzzy Bee’s Burger House on Oxford Street in Cambridge Park, near Penrith, following reports of an alleged assault at about 9.40am on Saturday.

Officers attached to the Nepean Police District attended the scene and found the bodies of shopkeepers and parents Hoa Teck Chiem, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, with significant injuries, NSW Police said.

The bodies were first discovered by family members in what police described as a “confrontational” scene.

“The family is clearly devastated,” NSW Police Superintendent Michael Cantrell said.

Following the shocking discovery, police, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, launched an investigation and a crime scene was established.

“Following an investigation, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a house in Canley Heights around 12.30am on Sunday.” This was reported by New South Wales Police.

Police now believe the alleged attack was targeted and will argue in court that all three knew each other.

“All motives are being considered at this time,” Det. Superintendent Cantrell said. “(But) we have no data to suggest there is any further threat.”

Det. Superintendent Cantrell said police were also reviewing released video footage of the incident.

“I know there are posts that have been posted on social media and we are looking into that,” he said.

The man was charged with two counts of domestic violence murder and was denied bail. He will appear in Parramatta Local Court later today.

The owners and parents ran the takeaway shop for 30 years and their deaths have left the community in shock and mourning.

“Wonderful people, great food. It’s heartbreaking,” one local resident told 7NEWS.

“Dad was almost ready to retire.”
