FIFA Club World Cup 2025: final participant announced

The 32nd and final participant in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States (June 15 to July 13) has been confirmed: Botafogo. On Saturday evening (European time), the Rio de Janeiro club won the Copa Libertadores final against Atlético Mineiro with a score of 3:1 and at the same time secured a ticket to the big summer tournament.

After the final in Buenos Aires, the world football association can now hold the draw for the Club World Cup. As previously announced, the group draw will take place next Thursday, December 5th, in Miami. Starts at 19:00 Central European Time.

As at the FIFA World Cup, the preliminary round will be played in eight groups of four. Details such as the maximum number of European clubs in the group have not yet been announced. At the end of September, twelve US venues were confirmed to also host the 2026 Nations Cup.

From Europe, the main tournament, which is held every four years, features, among others, the last four winners of the Champions League. Real Madrid won the Henkel Cup in the corresponding period in both 2022 and 2024; The triumph alone would be enough to qualify for the Club World Cup.
