Ohio State Police release statement following postgame brawl with Michigan

You’ve already seen the postgame incident that followed Michigan’s 13-10 win over Ohio State on Saturday. Once the score was final, the Wolverines carried the M-block flag to the middle of the field and set it up at the 50-yard line, similar to what we saw back in 2022. The difference is that this time there are a lot of Buckeyes left. on the field who were not going to allow this. As a result, the two teams collided in the center of the field and a fight ensued.

While security guards and police tried to disperse it, targeted pepper spray was immediately used to separate the players. During the FOX broadcast, two Wolverines could be seen on the sideline wrestling after being splashed.

Soon after, the Ohio State Police released an official statement regarding the incident.

“After the game, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies helped break up the altercation on the field. During the scuffle, several officers representing Ohio and Michigan used pepper spray. OSUPD is the lead agency on gaming and will continue to investigate.”

In the video below, you can see officers using pepper spray to try to separate the two sides.

We’ll see if anything else comes out of the post-game brawl between the two teams, but it’s unlikely we’ll see any additional punishment for either side. During the postgame press conference, head coach Sherron Moore gave his side of the story.

“These were the officers who were there, so they were just trying to control everything,” Moore said. “Security tried to control everything. They had guys on both sides trying to make sure we took care of them. We need to do a better job of handling this as a group. I’ll talk about it in the locker room, we’ll come back to this again. But it goes both ways.”
