UK Residents Get Another Chance to Apply for Disaster Food Assistance

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Starting Sunday, South Carolinians have another chance to apply for the Hurricane Helen Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The districts include:

Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Lawrence, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York.

Residents of affected counties not participating in the SNAP program who are seeking assistance and were unable to pre-register and complete a telephone interview between November 12 and November 21 may apply in person.

Each in-person event will last three days. Individuals can only apply for DSNAP at a designated location in their county of residence.

On December 1, residents of Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Hampton, Lawrence, McCormick, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York counties will be able to pre-register for DSNAP online at https://benefitsportal.dss. .sc.gov/ and visit your county’s DSNAP website between December 2 and December 6 for an eligibility interview.

On December 8, residents of Abbeville, Aiken, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Jasper, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens and Richland counties will be able to pre-register for DSNAP online and visit the DSNAP website. in your district on December 9 and 13 for an interview.

Households that applied for DSNAP between November 11 and November 21 and were denied after a telephone interview are not eligible to reapply. If you disagree with the decision, you can request a Fair Hearing by calling 1-800-311-7220 or writing your local DSS office in your county.
